Egomania and The World

If there is something that continues to grow, it is the amount of selfishness that exists amongst people. When there is no hesitation to stab some one in the back (both metaphorically and literally), when the consciousness of life is abandoned, when the only thing that does matter is ourselves, what exists directly around us: That is utterly selfish. Egomania and Narcissism are words used to describe one who only indulges in caring about themselves. Their only preoccupation is what involves them.

There are statistics to prove that selfishness is at a high capacity amongst individuals. For example, the rate of divorce has reached a level in which one in two marriages will fail. It is to easy for people to become unhappy and unsatisfied. Responsibility with others is no longer a concern. Families are torn apart and if there is one thing that matters it is aspect of family. Generations have been passed, lives have been lived together, as a whole. Another form of family is a community, which has many definitions, but when it comes down to it, is something shared by several people. Sharing is a form of unselfishness. We are given consciousness and guilt for a reason.

This is an aspect that affects so many people and is due to the way society is portraying life, and the loss of values that pertain to it. There are morals and there are logical ways to act and achieve. The problem is this is something that can be necessarily blamed on individuals. This is the way we are being trained to live. So much of what is wrong appears right. The messages we are receiving are backwards. Since when has Religion been about murder, war, and hate. Its purpose is to give fundamentals and values, to create a moral code in which its believers are supposed to follow.

Today, most of religion is about money. You can disagree but when some of the richest buildings and locations in the world come from religion, and that money is spent and squandered, something to me seems off. I'm not saying religion is wrong, only the aspects and importances of it are being forgotten. It's simplicities are being miscalculated and perplexed. Many religions have succumbed to the corporate overture; tithing and taxation of it's "customer's". Television channels, fund-raiser's, charities (in which only 50% has to actually go to the charitable fund), etc. The list goes on, but money is a major cause of selfishness and when it is tainting the only pure thing that is supposed to exist, that seems wrong.

A reason why people are successful is because they care about themselves, but throughout life, there are times when we are all in need of someone. Someone to be there for us, even just simply to hear us out and listen. It is my personal perspective that Karma is very much an existing thing. Even in the simplest form of; If I am to help someone with something they will be more apt to help me out if I need it. If good is done, it is usually reaped back. Kindness for kindness, just like an eye for an eye.
