Ron Paul on Larry King

Great website, need to bookmark this and check it regularly. Interesting Larry King Live show featuring Ron Paul and Robert Reich. Both men give their opinions on Barrack Obama's stimulus package and on the economy. Check it out here - http://www.dailypaul.com/

And at the end of the video, Ron Paul is laughing at Robert Reich for his comment about Keynesian economics being proven to work best. Anyone intelligent enough to study economics and understand how they work (For example, if you view this blog, you will see actual predictions of movement in the economy, as based on the Austrian School of Economics, the Ludwig von Mises Institute's theories http://www.investophoria.com/.) will know Keynesian economics has never been proven to work at all.

Good Old Texas Straight Talk

Ron Paul's January 25th, 2010 Texas Straight Talk

Gotta appreciate the fact that someone is willing to give us the truth.

Not Enough Of Them

Play List

We need more people in this world like Ron Paul and Lew Rockwell, as today too few people can see the reality which is surrounding us on a daily basis, stripping us of our liberty and possibilities.

Pay attention to what is said in these lectures, it is important and Lew puts it into terms that should be emphasized on a daily basis. It is informative, logical and straight-forward.

The Strangest Secret

This is something I'm surprised I haven't heard before. It's quite fascinating to know that something like this was said in the fifties, almost attempting to prevent even more of the masses from conforming (as they have today). The words that are chosen, the manner in which they are spoken, the message that is being sent, this entire clip is should everyone should at least listen to, just to hear and at least contemplate. After all, when it comes down to it, it's our choice.

As The World Spins (Too Fast?)

Now, I haven't been updating this a whole lot lately, not nearly as much as I would have liked to. Currently, I am working on another adaption of Consuming Life, but for now I have stumbled across some information that has startled and even disgusted me. A more psychological and broader aspect of this will be in the Consuming Life articles. Normally, on my posts, I try to take a rather professional approach to them. This, though, is an issue that makes me cringe and I may be more ardent throughout.

Assault can be defined as a violent physical or verbal attack made on someone and with a weapon is is usually referred to as an "assault with battery." Sexual assault, in my opinion, and especially rape, involves more than just physical affliction but an emotional and mental larceny. Being sexually assaulted can literally alter an individuals mind and the repercussions of doing so have led to extremities such as alienation and even suicide. Rape is something, that in my opinion again, should be treated the same as a homicide. Someone willing to commit those acts has an extremely deficient moral capacity and has psychological issues. In my opinion, to freely and readily negatively alter and even destroy the heart, mind and soul of someone, you have to be lacking your own level if respect and have no grasp of your own soul, mind or heart. So why should they be treated any different than someone that ends a life? After all, they are destroying a life.

There are two instances I found recently which circulate directly around the issue of rape. The first article I found involved a 15 year old student who was leaving her homecoming to meet her father. On the way over a classmate invited her to have some drinks with some friends, so she decided she would. After she consumed a large quantity of liquor "She was raped, beaten, robbed and dehumanized by several suspects who were obviously OK enough with it to behave that way in each other's presence," Lt. Mark Gagan said. The Huffington Post article mentioned that there were several individuals, maybe a dozen, who had been watching the rape taking place and some even joined in. No one reported it to the police. The only way they heard about it was when someone, who had left the scene, was discussing it with others and a girl overheard. She called the police and they arrived on the scene to find the rape still taking place.

There is no need to sugar coat this, no need to put this short and sweet because if you can honestly look at this and not think anything is f***** up, then there is something f***** up with you. Over a dozen people!! Not ONE PERSON calls the police!! A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL IS RAPED OUTSIDE OF HER SCHOOL DANCE WITH THREE POLICE AND FOUR FACULTY MEMBERS ON SITE!! RAPED BY SEVERAL STUDENTS AND MEN!!

I don't care who you are or what you do, if you rape someone, you deserve life in prison, at least. Each of the assailants should be prosecuted heavily and confined behind bars for life. Not to mention, the people who just stood by and did nothing about it, or even got involved should ALL be charged for association AT LEAST. How sick of a world do we live in where a girl, at fifteen years old, is raped outside of her school and there are people standing, watching and not one of them does a thing about it... Pretty f***** sick if you ask me.

The other incident involved a middle-aged woman who was drugged, then raped, and clearly, as she stated in her CNN interview with Anderson Cooper, it was traumatic. After the incident, her doctor informed her that the assailant wasn't wearing any protection. She received HIV-testing (did not contract the disease), had to go for HIV prevention counseling and was put onto preventive medication. She, a health insurance agent, was then dropped from her insurance coverage. She was told that a) they didn't receive her payment, but they really hadn't cashed the cheque she sent, and b) that until she had been off of medication, was out of counseling and had been HIV-tested without contraction for two years, she wouldn't be eligible. This, as she put it, was a second traumatic event. She was forced to pay

You may or may not be able to tell but these incidents occurred and there are people that thought it was just OK. Well, in my opinion, it is not OK, not morally, fundamentally, psychologically, not in anyway way shape or form is sexual assault OK. Even the way Anderson laid out the facts in terms such as "it's standard practice in the event of a rape..." Rape should be a part of a doctors standard practice, rape shouldn't be a common occurrence. Yet it seems to be. There are many factors that can lead up to why it is as common as it is, which I will get more into in my Consuming Life segments on a psychological factor, but for now it unsettles me to know that it can be discussed so vaguely and naturally. The same has come of many things, the majority found in mainstream media, but regardless people seriously need to wake up and snap into reality. People's lives are at stake and many are just wasting their own lives away. That is fine in most cases, people choose to do as they wish, but when it begins to effect everyone around them, I begin to worry. When over twelve people witness a rape and no one does anything, I being to worry where we are heading as a civilization, or are we becoming uncivilized. Killing and war is already perfectly fine with many people. As statistics show, AIDs is a fairly common disease (mainly in 3rd World nations but you'd be surprised where else you will find it... Washington, DC). It just seems to me that we continuously get promises of "change" and hope of "prosperity and humanity" when all we are led to do is constantly destroy; our planet, other people and ourselves.

Consuming Life - The Next Steps

Sigmund Freud stated that the first six years of childhood are the most important to the overall development of an individual. What happens after that? The next steps for us are what some refer to as the "Adolescent" stage (a newer entity society occurring between the ages of 13-19). During this stage, these teenagers are influenced more and more outside of their home. In many cases, teenagers look and search intentionally for outside sources of guidance and influence, finding some pop culture or media phenomenon. Rather than parents being the authoritative figures (in some cases they are the enemy), police and educational faculty have taken over the role. We live in families, are born by parents, as children, then adapt, grow, learn and somehow, in many cases, family means nothing.

For thousands of years, this adolescence wasn't in existence, there was one leap from child to adult. The ancient Aztecs celebrated a female transitioning into a lady at the age of 15, a bar mitzvah welcomes a male or female to adulthood at an even younger age. These are a few examples of ancient traditions which give way to the growth of an individual and celebrates their transition from boy or girl to man or woman. It is a symbol that honors the maturity and responsibility of an individual. And maybe traditions have changed quite a bit but regardless, once this "adolescent" stage has been reached, many people are unable to grasp the responsibilities around them. Most of this stems from their earlier preparation. But another problem with this "adolescence," in my opinion, is the easy access to avoid consequences. Life is something that only happens one time and of course it must be enjoyed and cherished. It should also be taken with responsibility and with significance. A part of cherishing a life is making it into the best of its abilities. Every choice should be made with some conscientious cogitation, with some regard for the outcome and/or consequences.

The steps that we begin taking at an early age will be carried through our entire life. The paths we take will lead us in whichever direction we choose to go, good or bad: Each decision made, determines an applicable outcome. At the adolescent age it is far easier to make irrational and even immoral decisions, especially with no strengthened moral base to walk on. Even further, when the consequences are nothing more than a mere slap on the wrist, doing the irrational or immoral becomes apparently easy. Between the ages of 11-19 all of us are still developing, mentally, physically and emotionally. We continue to grow independently and strengthen our own persona's.

As we grow and develop, we are influenced by what is around us. People, places and things that we come into contact with, directly and indirectly, carry some weight on our actions and reactions to what comes at us. Media and pop culture are two of the biggest factors in impacting people's beliefs, theories and vitality. They say the age group that is easiest to influence through media is from the early age of 4 to 15, but even young adults become easily susceptible to what the see on television. People are beginning to suffer in terms of deciphering between reality and fantasy, fiction and non-fiction.

It seems many people hide between theories and speculation, rather than having faith or true belief in themselves, let alone in reality. They can't see the difference between biased knowledge and realistic information. In my opinion, media and pop culture carry a big weight on peoples developments, especially when people go as far as to act how a celebrity acts. Negative connotations such as "being a gangster", "drug use" and "premarital sex" have become glorified in media and pop culture. Media has been responsible for other societal flaws as well, so immorally influencing this generations children and adolescents isn't a first time this activity has occurred.

A parents job is never over, in my opinion. They should always be there for their children, even when they have grandchildren, for as long as they can be. And their children should also be there for their parents, to help them when they need it and to support them when they need it. A parents job is simple, to raise their child, from an infant, to an adult, and to guide them with the necessary information and conduct to take the best steps possible to be taken. A parents should differentiate between what is right and what is wrong, not education systems and not the police. They are in place to give children knowledge and to protect the people, respectively. People make mistakes, it happens, and it can be forgiven, but the more information someone has on how to take hold and responsibility of their life, the more prepared they will be to do so. It is never easy for a parent to let go of their child, so that they can take an independent approach to their own life, but it is a necessity. They are not losing them, only allowing them the freedom to explore and take full responsibility of their own life, so that they may one day take responsibility of family.

A family is like a tree, that continues to grow and branch off, but it is all attached and needs every part to remain strong and whole. Each branch is responsible for maintaining its own stems and leaves, but it is connected to the trunk which in turn connects it to every other branch and its roots. Government and corporations should not be controlling what our children think or how our children act. No one should be controlling anything a child does. It is the parents job to teach their children the difference between what is real and what is not, and what is right and what is wrong. Experiences give aid to what we are informed on, either tainting or strengthening the view, but without any way to properly view the world, the wrong can appear right and the right can appear wrong. We can teach our experiences to our children, but we must be able to take responsibility first before we can give them proper direction. It all stems from the roots and works its way up.
