Jimmy Carter on Larry King Live

Earlier this evening I was watching Larry King Live speak with former President Jummy Carter about Barack Obama and his book "We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land."
During this interview there were some interesting moments, especially during the discussion of the current Palestine and Israeli cinflict.

King asked Carter about the Israeli retaliation and Carter responded that it might have been prevented if the Israeli government were to allow proper amounts of food, water, oil and medicine to be given to the Palestinian people. King then said that there was an Israeli civilian killed. Carter responded very sincerely that there was no need for any violence but in that year there was one, single Israeli civilian killed compaing to an average of 49 Palestinian civilian deaths per month during that very same year. He also stated that there were 22,000 Palestinian buildings destroyed since that one Israeli civilain was killed.

The next question that King asked was of pure ignorance, "If Atlanta was bombed, wouldn't there be reason to retaliate." My question is, how does a random American city being randomly bombed compare to a state under knowledgeable oppression without proper rations or any form of freedom who loses an average of 49 civilians per month who had some angry citizens or whoever decide to send a missle which kills 1 civilian. Since that one Israeli civilian died there have been many more Palestinian civilian deaths. Carter simply replied again about the current situation the Israeli government is leaving Palestine and its people under; lacking everything essential to life.

Carter stated that the United States "is the key" to bringing peace between Palestine and Israel, especialy considering the $10 million US aid money Israel receives from them per day. King asked Carter if he trusts Hamas and Carter responded "I trust what they are trying to accomplish" further stating he met with them twice and each time the only thing they requested was "that the gates be opened for food, water, and medicine."

It is very possible that Carter is right about the United States pull on the Israeli-Palestine conflict. He gave good praise towards George Mitchell, the special envoy to the Middle East as appointed by Obama. Mitchell's mother was Arab and he considers himself to be Arab-American. Let's hope that Obama isn't a puppet, although his face after his inauguration doesn't look so promising.

King, after his mention of the Israeli attacks on the U.N. school and mosques, asked Carter for his opinion, Carter said that he only had simple facts from the U.N. which stated that 43 children where killed in the U.N. school. King then stated that the Israeli attacks were on a terrorist location. Carter then again referred to U.N. statistics and documentation stating that there were no terrorists in the building or in the vacinity and that there were innocent children killed.
The interview didn't last much longer and then King went on a rant about a new and upcoming book from Joe Torre, not giving any praise to Carter's book, which again is We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land.

I just found the whole thing rather interesting, thought I'd share it.

Freedom - Constitution vs. Patroit Act and NAU

Here are a few of the amendments in the American Constitution that I'd like to point out.

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. Ratified 12/15/1791.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Amendment 5 - Trial and Punishment, Compensation for Takings. Ratified 12/15/1791.
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Amendment 6 - Right to Speedy Trial, Confrontation of Witnesses. Ratified 12/15/1791.
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Amendment 8 - Cruel and Unusual Punishment. Ratified 12/15/1791.
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Amendment 14 - Citizenship Rights. Ratified 7/9/1868. Note History
1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. In a completely diametric and surrogated aspect, here are some facts regarding the Patriot Act:

USA Patriot Act:

Introduced on October 23rd, 2001 and after passing through eight committees, the House of commons, the Senate and then was signed by George W. Bush on October 26th, 2001. Many of the congress hadn't even glanced at the 342-page paper.

Since its origination there have been many secret federal custody camps in which a majority of men from Arab and South Asian countries were being held for up to months at a time without any actual charges being filed against them. The government refused to give information on the individuals or their whereabouts, even after ordered to do so by the courts. The conversations taking place are being monitored, diminishing the rights of attorney-client law-binding relations.
Political and religious organizations/individuals are being secretly observed, non-citizens being convicted on hearsay and only requiring two-thirds of the vote, and American citizens are being held in military custody without being charged, without any contact with legal assistance, for indefinite periods of time. People are losing their freedom.

Here is a video clip from CNN, of all stations, that exposed the North American Union signing, which was passed without approval of the Congress or of the American people. The signing was done by George W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and the Mexican President in 2005. The NAU is concerned with National security, which includes Mexico's southern border, and national security is a major factor in the Patriot Act, which was formed after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which Bush has been strongly accused of having previous knowledge of.

This is just a little bit about me

Lately, I haven't had very much time to update my blog. So instead of forcing myself to create something out of thin air (my minds been preoccupied with all sorts of lifes endeavoring events and complicities), I decided to just talk a little bit about myself, especially considering I just had to do so in my new online screenwriting course.

I am 21 years old and writing is my passion. It has been ever since I was in high school. At first it was my dream to write a book and so, for several years I struggled and attempted to complete some. I did, but it was never quite satisfying. Every story I either left without a complete and full ending or I would strain myself until I was able to "wrap it up". Needless to say I never tried to get anything published, but there were definitely instances where I was pleased with what I had written and accomplished.

As the years past and I neared the decision of what it was I wanted to pursue in my post-secondary education, I stumbled across a website which was for a screenwriting competition held each year.The competition was created by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and each year any inspiring screenwriter (within California) could enter into the contest and if they won, their screenplay would be turned into a film. I began reading different screenplays, both from the contest and also those of already produced feature films. My favorites at the time were Godfather, Bourne Supremecy, The Departed, amongst many others. I took a year of Film Studies at a local community college but have since decided that I want to take a more hands on approach to everything, including writing/directing my own short films and also shooting music videos and possibly documentaries.

I became intrigued by screenwriting, the fascination of creating movies. I have since ritten three feature length scripts, all of which I am currently revising. It is a dream but I am motivated and ambitious in becoming a screenwriter and hopefully (after I attend the New York Film Academy), one day, adirector. My imagination is vivid and indepth whereas my creativity never ceases. I believe myself to be somewhat of an artist; I paint pictures with my words. I want to create visual masterpieces through both my writing and direction in filmmaking.

Respect Speil

Respect should be one of the most logical aspects of life, in all regards. From respecting ourselves, which is a simple thing to consider, because how can we not? Each and every one of us is our own unique depiction of what the human species is.

We are all born with our simple little differences but what truly counts is the way we portray ourselves, the image that we see is the image that we give. If we do not respect ourselves we will not give a respectable depiction for others to view. We should respect what we have, because all of us are lucky to have anything at all. We should respect what we are given, respect the abilities and talents, the characteristics and most importantly the choices we make. For it is the choices we make that determine the outcome of our actions and it is our actions that implement reactions. Furthermore, each time we make a decision it is something that we have done in our one and only life.

I have noticed that respect is a dying characteristic in many these days and I ask myself: How can people not respect who they are in the only life they are going to get? People are too proud and egotistical to be able to open their minds enough to properly view themselves past their arrogant, fearful bubbles. Maybe it's just me, but when people don't have respect enough to care about how their actions even affect themselves, I have to wonder what logic and simplicity have translated into.
